To improve the quality of standardized training on resident physicians for postgraduate students and further explore the path of training talents for postgraduate students, the School of Medicine invited Professor Liu Jin from West China Hospital of Sichuan University to give a lecture entitled “Implementation and Prospects of Standardized Training System for Resident Physicians” in the Auditorium of the Affiliated Hospital of Ningbo University School of Medicine on the morning of August 19, which is hosted by Liu Yu, Executive Dean of the School of Medicine, and almost 100 participants from teaching and administrative staff of various residency training bases, postgraduate supervisors and postgraduate students attend the lecture.

 Professor Liu Jin is the pioneer and leader of the modernized resident physician training system in China. He has been working diligently for the implementation of the training system during his decade of service as a deputy to the National People's Congress from 2003 to 2013, and has proposed the motion and suggestion of “establishing a national standardized training system for resident physicians and including the cost in the national budget” in ten consecutive years. Professor Liu pointed out that the standardized residency training system in China is a national policy to serve the significant demands of the country, and is the main policy basis for realizing the national strategy of “Healthy China” and training basic qualified clinicians for 1.4 billion people, and “standardized” means completing clinical practice training according to the minimum requirements of the country, with the basic goal of mastering the standardized prevention, diagnosis and treatment of common diseases and multi-morbidities, and motivating students to successfully complete the transformation from “medical student” to “clinician” through resident physician training. At the end of the lecture, Professor Liu briefly summarized the 10 key points of standardized resident physician training and makes an in-depth communication and interaction with the students and faculty in the audience, and he also proposed a number of practical suggestions for the resident physician training work of the base as well as the talent cultivation of specialized students in the Hospital.
