The Ningbo Behavioral Neuroscience Key Laboratory was established by the School of Medicine of Ningbo University in collaboration with Ningbo Kangning Hospital, and was accredited by the Ningbo Science and Technology Bureau in a document issued on December 13, 2013 (Y.K.J.[2006]No.(132)). The Laboratory has 10 researchers with senior titles and 12 with deputy senior titles, including a professor at the first level of “151 Talent” of the province, a Qianjiang Scholar and a provincial Seagull Scholar, and has employed two internationally renowned experts as Chair Professors for Yue-Kong Pao Lectures. Most of the main academic key personnel have working experience in famous institutions or research institutes at home and abroad, and have led over 20 doctoral and master students. The Laboratory has been granted funding for over 80 projects including 20 National Natural Science Foundation of China projects and three Qianjiang talents, and has published more than 200 papers and been awarded two second prizes for scientific and technological progress in Zhejiang Province. The Director of the Laboratory is Professor Wang Qinwen.
The Laboratory integrates neurophysiological, molecular biological, behavioral and morphological approaches to explore the pathogenesis of major neuropsychiatric disorders such as dementia, drug dependence, depression and sleep, from the molecular and cellular levels to the global level, and to further study key receptors, membrane protein ion channels, neurons and glial cells involved, so as to provide a theoretical basis and preliminary experimental basis for the development of novel and efficient drug targets.
