On the afternoon of March 18th, the 5th Council Meeting of NBU Alumni Association & The Awarding Ceremony of 2022 Alumni Work was held in the lecture hall of Zhencheng Library. The Alumni Association of the NBU Health Science Center won the Most Potential Organization Award, and 12 alumni ( Pan Jing, Wang Guoan, Kong Wenming, Zhang Jintang, Ma Hongying, Yang Sijia, Lou Yichao, Zheng Tianbao, Ding Jiasheng, Wu Jiancheng, Zhong Zhiwei and Lin Lyu) are reputed as Heroes in Harm’s Way, He Wenming won the Sincere Contribution Award, and Lin Ruyi is qualified as All-round Liaison Messenger.
Since its establishment, the Alumni Association of the NBU Health Science Center has been earnestly implementing policies of Ningbo University and the Center, building on disciplinary expertise, observing the principles of “serving teachers, students and alumni wholeheartedly”, and pooling various resources to empower the alumni and support the Center, as it has made outstanding achievements in fighting the pandemic, gathering strengths to propel the development of the Alma mater, deepening alumni bonds, building a platform for sharing alumni resources and carrying out distinctive activities, which has been highly appreciated by the alumni.
During the pandemic, the alumni of NBU Health Science Center stuck to their posts of medical and health care and served with great courage and responsibility, turning out heroes in harm’s way one after another, whose stories have been frequently covered by media. Many of the alumni had won national, provincial and municipal honors. Kong Wenming, alumnus graduated in 2011, won the National Award of Outstanding Individual for Combating the COVID 19, while the National Award of Outstanding Group was conferred to the assistance team to Wuhan led by Pan Jing, in which Ma Hongying, Yang Sijia and other alumni went to Wuhan to perform the mission as valiant pandemic fighters. During silent management of Ningbo University to combat the pandemic, the first batch of graduates majored in disease prevention and control ran to the front line and many became core members of the team who, as covered by Ningbo Daily, in spite of their busy work, lost no time in raising 30,000 surgical masks for their Alma mater and called on other alumni to donate for Ningbo University’s fight against the pandemic.
The Alumni Association actively contacts alumni, organizes multi-dimensional exchange activities, and builds a platform to enhance bond and share resources. Xinglin Alumni Forum, which has been held for three consecutive years, gives full play to the exemplary role of outstanding alumni, sharing stories of role models by inviting outstanding alumni to share with their younger schoolmates their growth, study and career life, offer advice about career development, report their achievements to teachers and express their deep feelings and gratitude to the Alma mater, thus gradually enhancing the influence of the Forum. Besides, the Forum also regularly organizes alumni to return to school, strengthens the tie between alumni and Alma mater, and earnestly serves alumni; boosts cooperation in teaching and scientific research, as 12 outstanding alumni have been selected to study abroad and return to their Alma mater to undertake the tasks of clinical teaching; supports the development of alumni with the university’s research strength and conducts research cooperation with the university, thus completing the transformation from a relationship of teachers and students to a relationship of colleagues and research partners, and realizing common growth between alumni and Alma mater.
In the future, the NBU Health Science Center will continue to strengthen alumni visits and contacts, further promote the construction of the Alumni Association and alumni cooperation projects, and constantly explore distinctive brand alumni activities.
